About Dr Dave Poole

Dr Dave Poole is a management educator, speaker, and writer. He was formerly CEO of a major industry association in the real estate development sector and owner of a successful small business in the retail book sector. He has facilitated strategic retreats for corporate clients, teaches at one of Australia’s top business schools, and is fast becoming one of the nation’s most recognised and applauded corporate speakers.

At 20, Dr Dave was Australia’s youngest industrial marketing manager and a budding journalist.
By 30, he had served as an Advisor to a future Deputy Prime Minister, completed years of service as an elected representative within the nation’s most populous local government region, and graduated with two Masters degrees, both with a distinction average, in management and leadership.

By 40 (this year!), Dr Dave had lived and worked in the United States and China, given widely-praised keynote presentations at conferences and international corporate events in Athens, Berlin, Limerick, Kuala Lumpur, Seattle, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Darwin, and completed a 110,000 word dissertation for his PhD in management.

He had also doubled the revenues and membership of a major industry association in the real estate development sector, relocated it to a more contemporary space, doubled the staff numbers at its secretariat, rebadged it, generated a national media profile, and kept it in surplus throughout this period of rapid change.

At 40, Dr Dave was also co-author of two popular textbooks in the fields of management, corporate strategy, and organisational behaviour, had become a regular contributor to the opinion pages of national newspapers and, after 18 years, still husband to Wendy and proud father of Beth (13), Sam (10) and Chloe (8).  Keeping a promise to himself, Dr Dave completed his one and only 42.2km marathon, finishing in under 4 hours, completely knackered but overwhelmingly fulfilled.
