The Difference

Dr Dave Poole is a corporate speaker with a difference.

Some speakers spend much of your time telling you about their sports cars and trophy brides.

Dr Dave is different.

Dr Dave doesn’t drive a sports car. In fact, he doesn’t drive a car, unless the family Tarago is available. Dave’s transport mode of choice is a combination of a Yamaha Scooter and the local train network.

Dr Dave doesn’t take yearly holidays in the Maldives or ski the slopes of Aspen. In fact, he lives in the ‘burbs with his wife, 3 kids, and crazy dog, and has tended to give away the money he has had to spare, believing that giving is truly much better than receiving. Dr Dave and his family have supported heart operations in the United States and single mums who live around the neighbourhood corner.

Dr Dave has had more adventures than most. He has lived and worked in China, the United States and Australia. He has transformed a tired industry association into one of the nation’s most vibrant and influential advocacy groups. He owns a successful bookstore, completed a sub-4 hour 42.2km marathon in the winter of 2007, and has given much-praised seminars and presentations in locations as diverse as Athens, Kuala Lumpur, Berlin, Seattle, and Limerick.

Yet, Dr Dave lives by the philosophy that the great stories of the ages are often far more valuable his own.

He lives by the belief that great learning comes from presentations that truly encourage you to first look inside yourself for your own solutions to the challenges you are facing, not just take the “one size fits all” approaches suggested by so many speakers.
